Misc. Notes
Isabel Manrique, also called Iseo Manrique, was a native of Málaga, Spain. In about 1489, she married Luis de Zayas y Mendez de Biedma in either Málaga or Antequera. Luis is elsewhere called Luis de Zayas y Méndez de Sotomayor. By whichever name, he was born in Écija, Spain in about 1474, and died in Antequera, Spain, in 1504. They had three children, Lope, Diego, and Isabel.
Testimony given on February 3, 1534, and repeated in 1610, says that after the father of Luis de Zayas was poisoned, when Luis was an infant, he was raised in Écija by Antonia Sánchez, and then in Antequera, at the home of his aunt and uncle, Cuiomar de Zayas and Gómez de Figueroa, alcaide [warden or governor] de Antequera.
Elsewhere in this genealogy we find an aunt of Luis called Tomasa, not Cuiomar, de Zayas married to a Gómez de Figueroa, alcaide [warden or governor] de Antequera and Caballero XXIV de Córdoba [???].
