Pedro III, King of Aragon, (el Grande) was born in 1239, and, in 1262, in Montpellier, France, married Constance Hohenstaufen of Sicily, daughter of Manfred Hohenstaufen, King of Naples & Sicily, and Beatrice of Savoy. They had six children, Alfonso, Jaime, Frederick, Isabel, Pedro, and Violante. In addition, Pedro fathered at least seven illegitimate children.
Pedro became King of Aragon in 1276, on the death of his father, Jaime, and, in 1282, following a bloody revolt by the Sicilians against their French occupiers, Pedro III, married to the daughter of the last Sicilian king, accepted an invitation to become also King of Sicily. He died in 1285, in Villafranca del Penedes, and Constance died in 1302, in Barcelona.

i Alfonso III, King of Aragon (el Liberal) was born in Valencia, in 1265, and acceded to the throne when his father, Pedro II died in 1285. Alfonso married, on August 15, 1290, in Westminster Abbey, London, England, Princess Eleanor, the daughter of Edward I, King of England, and Eleanor of Castile. She was born in 1264, and died in 1297. Alfonso died in 1291, in Barcelona.
ii Jaime II, King of Aragon & Sicily, (el Justo) [16th great grandfather of Perucho]
iii Frederick II, King of Sicily, was born in 1271. When his brother, Jaime, became king of Aragon in 1291, Frederick acted as his regent in Sicily. However, in 1295, Jaime renounced his claim to Sicily in favor of the king of Naples, Charles II. At this the Sicilians once again revolted and acclaimed Frederick king of Sicily. A war ensued in which Frederick fought against his brother Jaime, who supported Charles II, until in 1302, the Peace of Caltabellotta recognized Frederick as the legitimate King of Sicily. Frederick married Eleanorof Naples, in May 1302, and died on June 25, 1336.
iv Isabel de Aragon (2) (Saint Elizabeth), was born in 1271, in Zaragoza. In 1282, in Barcelona, she married Denis, King of Portugal (the Farmer). After her husband died in 1325, Isabel lived as a nun in the nunnery at Coimbra, Portugal, which she founded. She died on July 4, 1336, at Estremos, Portugal, and was interred at Coimbra. She was canonized in 1625, her feast day being July 4th.
v Pedro de Aragon (2) was born in 1275, and married, in 1291, Guillermina, daughter of Gaston de Moncada, Vizconde de Bearn. Pedro died at Tordehumos in 1296, and Guillermina died in 1309.
vi Violante de Aragon (2) was born in 1273, and married, in Rome in 1297, Robert I King of Naples. She died in Termini, presumably in Sicily, in 1302 or 1303, and Robert died in 1343.
