Garmendia Leal Origin de Fundadores de Texas, Nuevo Mexico, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon ZACATECAS TOMO 1.
Everyone including Lorenzo had a connection with two sites, the museum (where Urdinola resided for some time) and the Bonanza Hacienda where Urdinola and the Longorias lived. Incidently, Urdinola established a "Mule" trail to cross the mountain range (actually some very high hills) from Bonanza to Mazapil. Otherwise, they would have had to travel West to Cedros then East to Mazapil.
If "Don" Lorenzo stayed anywhere, it would have been in Uridinola's home where there was protection from the indians. There wasn't much to Mazapil then. He would have had to go where Pedro his uncle went. After all he was still a lad then.
There is a tunnel below the house (the museum) which was used to escape from the attacking indians. Legend has it that Urdinola had a tunnel build all the way to Cedros.
I have photos of the church, the foundry and the main house in Bonanza somewhere. If not, I can go take new ones. Photos of the Museum can be had anytime.
I will look through the book tonight to locate all information on Lorenzo.
Note that in the book, Lorenzo holds the title of "Don" or "Sir" while living in Mazapil. This title was not taken lightly then and very few hold that designation in the book. It may have come from his father's position in Spain (with the church), his relationship to Pedro, his own activities, but more than likely, his ongoing relationship with Urdinola.
Urdinola, was the governor, a land baron, the first winemaker, a livestock baron, owned a number gold mines, and had several haciendas. And, because his son Francisco de Urdinola el mozo (he is listed in the book) died, the two families seem to have become one. Following the resolution of the murder case against Urdinola (by Pedro), Lorenzo, Pedro and the Urdinolas seem to be in the same place almost at the same time.
In the book, in a few land transactions and governmental activites, Lorenzo serves as an official witness. These transactions must have required his participation in order to acquire legitimacy.
